About the exhibition
This project is a collective portrait that gives a voice to those determined women who not only survived deprivations but managed to support their loved ones, and yet, their achievements were muted. Conceived as a tribute to Madloch’s own grandmother, the project grew by sharing with friends their feelings about their grandmothers, and discovering similar experiences despite the cultural differences.
About the photographer
Madloch has a Doctorate in Humanities and teaches at Montclair State University. Her photographic work concentrates on the search for hidden incongruities and clandestine serendipities.
